Calspan continues to make strategic capital investments to support strong growth, rising customer demands, and evolving safety standards. After developing and opening a state-of-the-art Vehicle Crash Test Laboratory in 2018, Calspan is investing another $5 million into its Transonic Wind Tunnel and Tire Research business units. The next step in Calspan’s investment plan includes adding a modern high-pressure air system to support the work done at their Buffalo, NY headquarters. Customer driven strategic capital investments is a priority and supports Calspan’s commitment to being industry leaders and ensuring the long term viability of its internationally recognized testing campus.

“We are excited to be in a position which allows us to make capital intensive investments to better support our customers and ultimately company growth,” comments John Yurtchuk, Chairman of Calspan. “The new high-pressure air system will increase productivity and allow for more routine maintenance without disrupting the workflow.”

High-pressured air is a critical resource for Calspan’s Transonic Wind Tunnel and Tire Research operations. Calspan is working with Ingersoll Rand to install a new high-powered air compressors at the campus by the end of 2019. The new air compressor systems will not only allow for a higher capacity for future air needs, but also help meet the goals of increasing reliability and redundancy.

This investment is just another step in modernizing Calspan’s campus, which legacy dates back to the 1940’s. More advancements are expected for Calspan as the year comes to a close.
