Therefore, across the country, city and county governments are putting in place legislation that require storefronts to install protective barriers. Calspan in involved in this effort as a provider of ASTM F3016 certification, helping make sure that the bollard systems being installed around the country meet performance standards and are effective in protecting lives and property.

ASTM F3016 CERTIFICATION
The scenario of a car or truck going through a storefront, damaging property and injurying or killing pedestrians, happens too often. Therefore, across the country, city and county governments are considering legislation that would require storefronts to install protective barriers. Calspan is involved in this effort as a provider of ASTM F3016 certification.
This new, innovative test standard establishes a range of low impact speeds at 10mph (16km/h), 20mph (32km/h), 30mph (48km/h) using a 5,000lb (2,268kg) surrogate cart/bogie which simulates an SUV or pickup truck to determine the device’s effectiveness via a penetration rating system.
Calspan has the equipment to test the latest version of the standard known as ASTM F3016-19.
