Leveraging decades of specialized experience in hypersonic system development and ground and flight test, Calspan is devoted to helping advance the nation's understanding of key technologies that enable more effective future systems.
Current focus areas include ignition and cold start for dual mode ram/scramjet engines, advanced inlet design and analysis, and integrated system design and analysis leading to high-performance practical flight architectures.
Calspan has collaborated with NASA and the USAF in the development of advanced ignition and cold start technologies for expendable and reusable high speed airbreathing systems.
Calspan is developing design, analysis and test techniques to help illuminate key issues relevant to high-speed inlet design including fluid thermal structural interaction (FTSI) effects.
Calspan is supporting the development of novel component and system analysis tools to understand the performance of integrated hypersonic flight systems.
