CAPA’s comprehensive scope of testing requirements for the CAPA 501 Standard includes the specification that bumper parts go through CAPA’s full part dynamic crash or quasi-static tests. This full part stress testing, conducted on every part number submitted for certification will further demonstrate true comparability of the aftermarket part to the car company brand service part. The CAPA program also requires comprehensive post-certification inspection and marketplace monitoring.
Calspan is a CAPA-approved laboratory for conducting CAPA 501 Full Part Dynamic (FPDT) Tests on steel bumpers, reinforcements, brackets, and energy absorbers.
Calspan can conduct crash tests to domestic (FMVSS, IIHS and NCAP) and to global full vehicle crash test protocols.
For these tests, Calspan’s engineers follow a regimented ISO/IEC 17025:2017 process that yields repeatable and consistent results. This methodical approach starts with understanding a customer’s needs, following industry best practices that establish ownership and accountability and they also include secondary quality checks to make sure everything is just right.
