Calspan Corporation has been awarded a five-year contract with the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).  The contract specifies a one-year period of performance with four option years.  The USNTPS trains the world’s finest developmental test pilots, flight officers, engineers, industry and foreign partners in full spectrum test and evaluation of aircraft and aircraft systems. Located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, MD, the school is at the forefront in development of modern test techniques and leads military aviation in standardization of flight test techniques.  As they have for the past four decades, Calspan’s highly advanced variable-stability Learjets and experienced instructor test pilots are excited to remain an integral part of the USNTPS curriculum.

This contract continues the 60+ year relationship between Calspan and the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School. “Calspan is honored by the recent award of the USNTPS contract,” said Calspan President, Greg Campbell. “This milestone underscores a longstanding partnership between Calspan and the Naval Test Pilot School and the enduring collaboration that has advanced test and evaluation at Patuxent River, MD. I want to recognize and thank our dedicated employees whose professionalism, innovation, and tireless efforts support the Navy’s test pilot training program at Patuxent River. Their work ensures the safety and success of training and positions our teams to continue delivering critical capabilities for our nation’s defense. We look forward to expanding our collaboration with USNTPS and investing in the people, programs, and facilities that enable excellence in test and evaluation.”

Most Calspan pilots are former U.S. military pilots, many of whom are graduates of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School or other military test pilot schools and bring a wealth of test flying experience to the USNTPS curriculum.
