Calspan’s state-of-the-art Transonic Wind Tunnel was recently featured by Viewpoint Systems for its successful test system modernization project. The Transonic Wind Tunnel, capable of continuous Mach-speed testing across a wide range of aircraft designs, underwent a major system upgrade to improve reliability, simplify usability, and enhance data acquisition capabilities. Working closely with engineering partners, Calspan modernized the 20-year-old system by integrating cutting-edge hardware and software while maintaining the user experience operators relied on.
The upgrade leveraged Precision Filters signal conditioning, National Instruments PXIe data acquisition, and a complete C#/.NET 8.0 software rebuild to deliver a more efficient, maintainable, and flexible testing platform. The result is a modernized wind tunnel control system that ensures dependable performance, streamlined operation, and the ability to easily reconfigure or expand functionality for future programs.
