Calspan and EME Aero (a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines) has reached a significant milestone by completing a successful correlation and shakedown of the PW1000G GTF engine in their new test cell located in Jasionka, Poland. The facility will handle the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services of the latest generation of Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.
Final commissioning of the test equipment is complete. The first scheduled test engines arrived on April 10 with MRO engines processed on site scheduled to be tested.
This facility is designed to be one of the most advanced and efficient test cells worldwide and plans to test over 450 engines per year. It will utilize Calspan's new AeroDAC PropulsionTM software for data acquisition and control.
The company will initially perform shop visits for the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM GTF engine model. In the following years, the PW1500G and PW1900G models will be added to EME's portfolio. With the future in mind the facility is designed to handle engines up to 60,000 pounds of thrust.
