The Channel 10 test facility is an atmospheric inlet blow-down wind tunnel capable of delivering velocities in the test section over a range from Mach 0.1 to 1.05 and a specific set point at Mach 1.2. The test section is 66 x 66 inches (1.67m square) and has ventilated upper and lower walls. Motive force is provided by high speed air ejectors downstream of the test section that accelerates air from atmosphere into the test section.
Used to evaluate dual stream exhaust system performance with M=0 to ~1.2 external flow. Typical dual flow exhaust system models are mounted on an 8 or 10 inch diameter air supply sting.
The wind tunnel can be configured to conduct high speed forward flight tests of models with inlet systems for testing inlet recovery, distortion, and swirl.
Channel 10 can be used for a variety of test situations where a subsonic flow field is needed. The open loop configuration of the tunnel enables studies of test articles that deploy parts.
